Steps to add promotions

Step 1: Build a cart price rule

• On the Admin sidebar, go to Stores>Marketing>Promotions>Cart Price Rules
• In the upper-right corner, tap Add New Rule. The selection in the section on the left contain Rule Information, Conditions, Actions and Labels.
• Complete the Rule Information settings as follows:

1. Enter a Rule Name for internal reference.
2. Enter a brief Description to explain content of the rule.
3. Set Status to “Active.”
4. Set Website to “Main Website.”
5. Choose the Customer Groups to which the rule applies.

Step 2: Classify the condition

• Set the Condition tab as follows:
• If all of these conditions are TRUE:
• If all of these conditions are for the subset of the cart material, the total size of 2

Step 3: Describe the Action

• In the group on the left side, select actions. Then do the following:
• Set Apply “Buy X gets Y Free (Discount Amount Y).”
• For example, set a discount amount to 1. This is the amount that the customer receives for free.
• To minimize the number of discounts you can use when the condition is executed, enter the maximum number of Qty discount numbers. For example, enter “1” to dismiss a single item.
• According to the discount Qty (buy X) field, enter the amount that the customer wants to buy the discounted qualification.
• Tap Save and Continue Then, the rest of the rule must be completed.

Step 4: Setup the labels

• On the left side, select Labels. Then do one of the following:
• Enter the default rule label for all store views. This label is visible to the customer.
• If you have multiple stores in your store, see specific labels for each display.

Step 5: Save and test rule

• When finished, click the save rule.

When you create a new price rule and setup free promotions in Magento 2, it may take you an hour. Allow enough time to get on the computer. Then check the rule to make sure it works correctly.
